Working with Stage One, we have created a wealth of awesome spectacles for the opening ceremonies of numerous sporting events from the Commonwealth Games to the Winter Olympics.
Ginny Lemon’s grand entrance
For the 2022 Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, RuPauls’ Drag Race star, Ginny Lemon, made a vibrant entrance when the performer was flown over the field of play in a lemon-shaped hot air balloon, created and engineered by Stage One Creative Services.
Our involvement
Banks Specialist Covers Limited produced the hot air balloon element of the display leaving Stage One to create the basket and run the display on the day. Our technology and skill in vinyl plastics ranges from simple covers to elaborate dispays for a variety of sporting events.

Sochi
Extraordinary Detail for
a Scenic Giant
Working in conjunction with Stage One Productions, this stunningly realistic and vast scenic ship was the largest single item of scenery we have ever built.
At over 40 metres long and reaching 20 metres at its highest point, its graceful journey across Sochi’s Fisht stadium was an awe-inspiring highlight of the 2014 Paralympic opening ceremony.
Using our track system installed in the stadium roof, the Mir appeared to glide through the ice. Whilst constructed to be as lightweight as possible, the Mir also had to depict extraordinarily accurate detail, able to withstand the scrutiny of camera close-ups and that of the worldwide audience.
